Russia’s TV1 Presenter Maxim Shevchenko to moderate plenary session of Mid-Russian Economic Forum 2012

Maxim Shevchenko, a journalist and presenter at Russia’s TV1 (First Channel), will moderate the plenary session of the Mid-Russian Economic Forum due June 15-16 in Kursk. The plenary session will address development features and economic advantages of Russia’s Mid-Russian macroregion, economic and investment reforms of recent years, social and economic development of Mid-Russian cities and how investments can contribute to it, encouraging SME’s business activities: the right development track for the regional economy and other matters.

Representatives of Russia’s relevant ministries and departments, the leading Russian companies and international corporations, foreign diplomatic missions, heads of the regional enterprises, leaders of the banking community, decision-makers of investment companies and funds will take part in the Forum.

The Forum is organized by the regional government of Kursk region and AK&M News Agency.

Maxim Shevchenko, born in 1966, is one of the best-known Russian journalists and experts in ethnocultural and religious policy issues. He has been an independent journalist since 1987. He worked for the Christian Democracy Reporter (special correspondent, 1987-1991), the Pervoye Sentyabrya / September 1 (head of the Society and Culture section, 1992-1995), the Nezavisimaya Gazeta (project author, editor-in-chief of the NG-Religions supplement, special correspondent for flashpoints, 1995-2002), the Sense Magazine (project author, editor-in-chief). As a special flashpoint correspondent of the Nezavisimaya Gazeta, he worked in Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Chechen Republic, Dagestan, Yugoslavia, Israel and Palestine.

In 2000, he founded the Center for Strategic Studies of religion and politics of the modern world, an independent nonprofit expert and analytical community attracting and engaging (through projects and contracts), experts and analysts specializing in issues related to the contemporary political, socio-mythological and religious consciousness. He presented and moderated the social and political talk show Sudite Sami (English: Judge For Yourself) on TV1. Since January 2012, he has been presenting and moderating the discussion show V contexte (English: In the Context). Besides, he has been presenting Vybor Very (Choice of Faith), Strategiya and other analytical programs at the state radio station Mayak.
